Skin fade & crop · Black Dog, Wakefield

The Black Dog way

Started with one chair. Still cut like it.

Andy opened Black Dog on his own back in 2014 — one chair, a knackered arcade machine in the corner that never did work, and one rule: give every head the time it takes. Ten years and a second shop on, that hasn’t budged. It’s Andy, Brandon and Cam on the chairs now, the arcade machine’s long gone, and there’s usually a queue at the door.

02 / The craft

A fade you don’t have to think about.

No conveyor belt, no next-please. Just a barber, your head, and the time to get the blend right.

Every cut starts with a proper chat about what you’re after — then it’s taper or skin, scissor or clipper, sharp round the beard and blended so clean it grows out well, not awkward.

It’s the attention to detail people keep leaving reviews about. Come in once, and you tend to find your barber and stick with them.
